When I look through a lens, I find myself drawn to simple subjects dressed in rich colors and textures. I frequently focus on the inessential - seeking out the old and insignificant objects that lie in the shadow of grand vistas. In focusing on the forgotten I try to bring to light the more introverted character of a place - highlighting those qualities of a scene that would otherwise go unnoticed. This tendency brings a meditative quality to my work. Rather than merely inspire recognition, I seek to capture a sense of placelessness in my photographs that provokes questioning and contemplation and invites the viewer to contextualize the imagery in their own experience. | ||
